Most recent exhibition- Hayley Darbyshire

My work for the exhibition explored the human existence, highlighting feminism in particular, questioning social structures and ideas which have been created to generalise us such as gender assumptions and the ideology behind sexual pleasure. The pieces 'What Now' and 'Women Are Just Slaves' use symbolism and others to create an alternative world of what could be, and help represent my views on today's understanding of feminism, particularly the way we live as women- outside and inside the art world. I usually approach my work in slightly humorous ways, yet it is important for me to communicate underlying serious political socialist and personal issues which others can relate to in some way.
